Overview

The Hastings Area School System adopted this strategic plan in April 2025. Our strategic plan was created based on feedback from stakeholders including parents, families, students, staff, and community members. The Steering Committee included teachers, parents, board members, directors, building administrators, and district administrators. The plan is founded on our core belief that every decision we make should begin with one question: How can we do what’s best for our students?

Value and Belief Statements: We are Saxon-Centered. Students are our purpose and are at the heart of EVERY decision.

Culture:

Fostering a school environment that is safe, supportive, and respectful.

Commmunication:

Communicating transparently, engaging in two-way feedback, and actively listening.

Classrooms:

Providing a safe and supportive environment in all classrooms where students feel comfortable and engaged.

Creativity:

Encouraging and supporting new ideas, and use of real-world contexts for an innovative learning environment.

Caring:

Creating accountability, belonging, and connection.

Critical Thinking:

 Exploring different perspectives and building upon existing knowledge to reach well informed conclusions.
